In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there is a set of armor for everyone.
In the Zelda series, tunics play a very important part. Every outfit Link wears is well-known, and fans want more games where they can dress him up. With a rake, Breath of the Wild scratched that itch by adding several new, classic, and very useful armor sets.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom continues this trend by returning with most of the previous game’s clothing, and more. You should put these defense sets at the top of your list. Some of them will make your life a lot better, and others will become essential tools as soon as you need them.
Soldier’s Armor
The Soldier’s Armor is back, but you can’t just buy the best armor in the game like you could in the last game. Instead, you will have to look for each piece under Hyrule Castle. After you beat a dungeon, a door to the cave system opens in Lookout Landing to make it easier to get there.
The Soldier’s Armor set isn’t necessarily the best in the game, but it has the best defense because it doesn’t have any special abilities. Also, compared to other sets, this one is very easy to improve. Call it “ol’ reliable.”
Zora Armor
In Tears of the Kingdom, swimming has been changed a lot, and it now actually works. Swimming used to be a sure way to die, and after getting the first piece of Zora Armor, many players thought that with full swim gear, it must be easier. What a mean joke.
Swimming with base Link now takes less energy, and even the smallest current doesn’t carry you away. When you combine this with the Zora Armor, water becomes less of a threat because it drains your stamina even less, and dashing uses the same amount of stamina as it did before the update. It’s still in Zora’s domain, but getting there is easy.
Snowquill Armor
The Snowquill Armor is our best cold-weather armor, and you’ll need it. You just need to go to the clothes store in Rito Village. Getting it is as easy as ever. But it’s pretty pricey, so make sure to get the snow pants in the lesson area so you only have to buy one or two pieces instead.
With this armor, you won’t get hurt if you go up into the sky or into the cold parts of the map. When you update, you will also stop getting cold. It’s also a huge improvement that you don’t have to waste cold-resistant ingredients on food when they can be used to improve your armor.
Stealth Suit
There are several armor sets that improve your stealth ability in this game, but the rest are either difficult to find, difficult to upgrade, or both. The Stealth Suit from Kakariko, on the other hand, is easy to find and easy to improve, but it costs a bit more. You will only need one or two pieces to do almost anything that stealth can do, and the speed bonus at night at level two isn’t bad either.
Early-game enemies can easily kill you in one hit, so being able to kill one or two of them before a fight is a big help. You can even sneak up on some mini-bosses and steal some of their health before their interaction animation is done. And finally, if you really want to, you can just avoid enemies.
Miners Suit
The depths are a rough, cruel place. Even more so when you’re just getting started. When there is no light, it is surprising how easy it is to walk off ledges. This makes it very helpful to carry a light. On the other hand, you could be the light.
The Miners Suit gives off a small light that gets bigger as you add more pieces. Also, once you’ve improved, you’ll have a skill called “light step,” which lets you leave bright lights behind you as you walk. This can cut down on how many brightbloom seeds you need and help you remember where you’ve been in the dark. You have to look around a bit in the depths to find the armor, but even just one piece can change your life beneath. If you find the central mining plant, a mine rail will take you to the pants at a midway depot. This might be the one that’s easier to find.
Climbing Gear
The Climbing Gear was one of the best sets in the original game, and it easily gets its place in the sequel as well. One of these pieces will make climbing mountains easier, but all three will make you laugh as you slide down the greatest cliffs. The level two update will also make it take less stamina to jump up, so you could buy a bigger stamina meter and really feel the power of this suit’s lack of sleeves.
Rain is the only thing that keeps this suit from being the best. As usual, rain will ruin your plans without notice and make this armor pretty much useless. Its average defense also makes it situational, so you’ll have to switch out of it often.
Froggy Suit
The Climbing Gear isn’t perfect, but the Froggy Suit makes up for that one flaw. With the slip-resistant buff that comes with this cute little set, you can hold on to wet surfaces better. It doesn’t stop slipping completely, but if you have the whole set, you won’t slip very often. But if you improve your defense set, you won’t slip, so don’t give up!
To get it, you have to do all of Penn’s quests for the Hyrule Gazette. The armor will come to you in pieces, with the last quest giving you the last piece. Then, hop and stick your way up any surface you want. Even walls of ice.
Glide Suit
Now that Tears of the Kingdom has a better tower system, flying is a big part of Happy Wheels game. Your original stamina meter and glider won’t get you very far, but with the Glide Suit, you can start to really put miles behind your nose dives.
The set makes it easier to turn while diving, and if you have all three pieces and a lot of stamina, you can jump from a tower to almost anywhere in Hyrule. Once you’ve improved, you won’t even need the paraglider. With the buff, you can just bounce off of your strong legs. It’s truly a shame having to replace some pieces with cold-resistant gear in snowy areas.
Barbarian Set
The Barbarian Set was probably the best set in the original game because it was easy to get and had a great effect on both attack and defense. In Tears of the Kingdom, it’s harder to find because it’s hidden in caves, but it’s still just as strong.
If you get just one piece of this protection early on, it can make fighting enemies much easier. Early-game weapons are really bad, and the game doesn’t hesitate to throw blue and black-level enemies at you in the first hour after you leave the training. If you keep getting killed by enemies, you should do yourself a favor and look up how to get this armor. As a bonus, the upgraded set will lower the amount of stamina you need for charge attacks. This is a benefit that all attack-up armors that can be upgraded have.
Phantom Armor
The Soldier’s Set and the Barbarian’s Set are both included in the Phantom Armor. It used to be downloadable content for Breath of the Wild, so you could think of it as “play around and have fun” armor. Now that it’s part of the base game, you can go get it right away if you want.
Even though the Phantom Armor can’t be improved, it still gives you 28 defense when you have all of it. You won’t waste boost materials when you use this, so you can pay more attention to your sets for specific situations, like hot and cold weather. Still, this protection can get you through the first half of the game, and the second half can be paid for by your health bar. If you could only have one set of armor, this could be it.
